Mystic Woods, was a small quiet town in Midwest America that was open farmland before it developed into the quaint Victorian style community it was today. Despite its beautiful developmental transformation from farmland to Victorian, a cornerstone of the community and a major piece of its history was The Mystic Woods Funeral Home, owned and operated by the Graves family.
The Graves were people that focused on helping the community. The first church on the property was built when Charity’s grandfather, Joseph inherited the business. He had chosen a life of ministry. People trusted him, relied on him for spiritual guidance, and a place for safe haven. Joseph took his responsibilities seriously which was why he was devistated when beasts attacked his church after a late night service, killing parishioners and severely wounding him.
Joseph, was a short, broad shouldered man with brown hair and smiling brown eyes. After the attack, his eyes didn’t shine like they used to, instead they were filled with grief and dispair. He stood over the dead bodies that littered the front of his church wondering how he had not died with them and why God would have allowed such an atrocity to happen. He fell to his knees weaping, feeling like a failure.
In the weeks that followed he fell into a great depression and was barely able to perform normal tasks. Somehow, he presided over the funeral for the fallen. He had felt it was his obligation. The survivors were unable to understand how or why the attack even happened. The town was in a state of mourning.
The attacks continued in the months that followed, but not on the property of the funeral home. There were more reported incidents in the forest The victims were mostly animals. Occasionally a camper was found with the same type of markings as the former victims and there were no leads on the murderers.
Late one night, sleep deprived, and exhausted, Joseph headed toward his bedroom in the church when he noticed thick hair growth on his arms. Was his mind playing tricks on him? He rushed to the bathroom and looked at his face in the mirror. Those glowing yellow eyes, the dark fur, the hideous face…he was a monster!
