The Water Realm was a place made entirely of ocean and sky. There was no land above the sea, making it nearly impossible for anyone to travel there and survive. Beneath the ocean’s surface, sea creatures dwelled, stronger, larger and more dangerous than the creatures of Earth’s oceans.
Merfolk and Water Elementals lived in the realm, creating their civilizations throughout the sea. Each government claimed their territory and ruled their people, never venturing out to meet or work with other nations. The governments existed independently of one another and remained self contained. This was how the people of the Water Realm lived in peace for so long…and why they didn’t know of the dangers happening outside their territories.
Besides the normal dangers of giant sharks, squids and whales there were sightings of deep sea dragons and aquatic monsters that merfolks actively avoided. The scariest creatures of all, however, were humans. The stories of the wicked humans were thought of as nothing more than fairy tales used to scare little merchildren into behaving.
Unfortunetly, for the realm, humans were not a thing of myth and legend. Humans were very real, very dangerous, and advanced enough to be a threat to all aquatic life. With everyone concerned about their own way of living, will anyone notice the damage being done in the waters before it’s too late?
